Movies play a significant role in our lives, says Tej Kohli. Hollywood has given us many movies that makes us want to take the first flight to the places they are set in. Below Tej Kohli enlists some popular movies that may inspire you to travel.

The Beach

The first film in this list is The Beach. This Danny Doyle film is based on a popular novel and was filmed on a famous holiday island of Koh Phi Phi. The star cast consists of Leonardo Di Caprio and Tilda. The film showcased the journey of a backpacker in search of a paradise. With breathtaking images of the crystal blue sea and the vast sand beaches, it’s no wonder if you feel like grabbing your passport and book a couple ticket to Thailand.

Shirley Valentine

It is another awesome picture that’s has genuinely motivated British consumers to jet off abroad. Shirley Valentine, is a classic tale of a middle aged woman enjoying a passionate holiday romance in Greece. Based on a play, this film revolves around a Liverpudlian housewife, who flies off to Greece with her best friend, leaving nothing but a note for her husband on the kitchen table. This is the story of self-realization and awareness which has inspired many to live life in the moment.

Roman Holiday

Roman holiday is a classic lover story set in Rome. The movie features the beautiful Audrey Hepburn in the character of a European princess Ann, who is on a diplomatic trip to the Italian capital. On a fateful night, she runs away from the palace and becomes friend with an American journalist through a dramatic series of events. The journalist ends up spending the day with her pretending that he’s not aware of her princess status. Tej Kohli‘s favorite scene in the movie is where they visit the mysterious Mouth of Truth.

A Little Romance

This movie takes you on an enchanting journey to the three main cities in Europe – Paris, Venice and Verona. The movie follows the story of a rich American girl who moves to Paris and falls for a poor French boy. On discovering that a kiss under the Bridge of sighs in Venice will seal them in bond forever, they both head to Italy. The movie features some magnificent views of Europe that will make you visit that place.

The Gods Must Be Crazy

If Africa has never been on your list of your places to travel, perhaps after watching this movie you will change your mind. It’s a heart warming story of Bushmen who reside in a small village of Kalahari desert. They find out a coke bottle that someone has thrown out and this fills the residents with a sense of curiosity. After they fail to understand what it could have been used for, their chief announces that it is a gift from god that must be returned.

A sea voyage to Greece’s several islands can be an experience to remember. Greece offers a plethora of activities to visitors including climbing, sailing, windsurfing, scuba diving, river rafting, kayaking, and hiking.

Visiting Piraeus

A premier port on the Aegean Sea, Piraeus is a busy hub for travelers and locals both. Places of interest in Piraeus include, Marina Zea and a catch ride to the Saronic Gulf to have a look at the large yachts, restaurants, shops and taverns laid along the shoreline. The Hellenic Maritime museum showcases modern and ancient ships and is a wonderful place for those who are interested in knowing naval history. Apart from this it also offers an archeological museum featuring bronzed statues of Apollo, Athena, and Artemis. Kastella Hill offers a spectacular view of the sea and the surrounding traditional Greek houses perched on the scenery.

Amazing Athens

The Acropolis is one of the most popular sites in all of Athens is located in the center of the city. It has a cluster of ancient ruins and is very popular among visitors. In the National Archaeological Museum you will find the art and artifacts of the Minoan’s an ancient tribe of people who once dominated the Aegean Sea. Plus, the Jewish Museum, Parthenon, and the National Gardens are all tourist hot spots in Athens. Kolonaki is a modern Athenian street filled with chic boutiques, coffee houses and restaurants.

Colossal Crete

Another must see place in Greece is the Palace of Knossos. Also said to be a home to labyrinthine ruins that have been reported to be the home to the monstrous Minotaur, a half-man, half-bull creature that devoured young virgins in ancient times. Also, don’t forget to visit the Venetian Walls and Tomb of Nikos Kazantzakis, the historic village of Iraklion and the beautiful sixteenth century fortress known as The Venetian Fortezza.
